Ever since class on Monday I’ve been thinking about how and
if video games will really fix the problems we have in the world. Maybe it’s
hard for me to grasp this concept because I have many other things I’d rather
be doing than spending hours playing video games. Jane’s plan especially after watching
TED is very well thought and could possibly work if put to action in my
opinion. But I just have one concern, while were focusing on the positive note
of video games, many hours that she mentioned is spent on games that have a
negative influence on young people. For example although this game isn’t prevalent
now, grand theft auto showed violence, sex, and vulgar language. In my opinion
games like this will not be the reason that we solve the world’s problems in
the upcoming years. It’s amazing of me to think that there once was a time that
we never even had computers and that it was unheard of. Now to think of the
world without computers is absurd. Technology advances every day and now it’s
something that may be considered a need in a many cases. To me I haven’t really
decided if this is healthy that we are so consumed by something that was once
so miniscule or if it a miracle that we humans have created something that is
so large and is needed for many things in today’s world. This article definitely
challenges the brain and makes you think and reconsider many things. It makes
people realize that as it may seem that nothing is changing in our world but every
day we are advancing in technology and soon can possibly be searching for
solutions from a video game that we once used simply for pleasure.
