What is cool?
As we all studied about Cool in class, there is not only a single definition of Cool. Cool is cultural constructed. Cool can be described as the culture accepts something to be cool. According to the video Cool is an “a judgment of the taste”. Cool is all about the confidence or being above the situation but also the definition of Cool changes by the period of the time. I totally agree with the point of view, being cool totally depends on a specific time period. For example, what was cool 20 years ago is not now cool in the United States. I come from Afghanistan and I can tell the difference between being cool in the United States and Afghanistan. As far as I know, in the United States young people would consider Cool something as being arrogant and aggressive in some ways and some people consider smoking to be cool as well. But in Afghanistan a Cool person is someone who respected the elders, who is shy, who is intelligent and so on. Being Cool differs from country to country. For example: as I said what was cool in Afghanistan is not cool in the United States. Furthermore, what is considered to be cool in the United States In may not be Cool china or what is being cool in china may not be Cool in Africa. So in short Cool is culturally constructed and we make something to be “cool”. So Cool is what we make to be Cool! And we basically give it a definition.
