Video Games

I for one did not really know what to say in class today because I was raised in sports and always outside active and doing something. People laughed at our professor today when she said she had never beaten Super Mario Brothers, and well of course I know Mario, but I don't think I have ever even played Super Mario Brothers. I had one game boy growing up, and the only game I played was Mario Kart. I also had an original Play Station where I played racing games and Crash, only because I was in the hospital and unable to be active.
I somewhat agree with the points made in Wii Shall Overcome, I mean if video games are how people are spending their time then we might as well make it productive. However, I also disagree. If there are worlds problems like hunger, and global warming, and war going on and they are not being solved, maybe it is because people are preoccupied with other things, like how to beat World of Warcraft. I think in order for the big problems to be solved it is going to take more than video games. It just seems too complicated of a solution because not only to people have to play games, they have to play the right kind of game and that game has yet to be created. On top of all that, the incredible amount of time spent overall for people playing games needs to be SO much more! To put it simply, I think in order to solve the world's more serious problems, there needs to be a more serious solution. But who I am to talk because I sure don't have a solution....
