Find Your Spot in the Cafeteria

The human race is judgmental. Anyone who can read this is a part of the human race. Thus, you are judgmental. It would be hypercritical for me to state my frustration against our consistent grading of one another because I am a sinner of the same sin. Our judgement of one another is based on attractiveness, intelligence, personality, skin color and sexual orientation as well as hundreds of other characteristics. This is the way of the world. Always has been, always will.

One of the most famous American humorists, Mark Twain made reference to a theory that we never grow out of high school. Cool kids, jocks, nerds, weirdos, band geeks and the inbetweeners will always exist, especially in our country. So, pretend America is a gigantic cafeteria, find your spot and sit down.

Though I do think it's important to accept your natural self and make the best of who you are,  I don't find it important to praise and be obsessed with yourself. For instance, if you classify yourself as being a homosexual, it would be far more admirable and for that matter, effective, to live a humble, happy life. There are so many people that live in this Great Melting Pot that you will find a cohort to move along life with. I don't find it a necessity to be so boisterous and loud and proud of your difference in culture. Pride goeth before the fallen.

I for one, try to balance my open-mindedness with a moral compass. I have values that I am proud of. I don't go to pride parades for these values nor do I show them off with my dress. I try to live humble and happy even while acting as a judgmental sinner. I judge people based on attractiveness, intelligence, personality skin color and sexual orientation. So do you. Now sit down and eat your lunch.

God Bless us everyone,

Ben Cronk
