Sports and video games

Both sports and video games have a role in over amplifying masculinity. First of all sports, in particular football require players to be in shape and have a strong body if they want to be the good at the game, but the ideal body image and workout is constantly being progressed to new levels. You would think video game characters wouldn't need to be so built in a game compared to someone who works out for a living, but that is not true. Video game characters are already expected to be bad ass if put in the leading role in a violent video game and game developers shape the characters bodies to fit that bad ass persona. These bodies are over exemplified and are not realistic to the human body.
For example a characters the character "cole train" in gears of war's arms.http://lh6.ggpht.com/_b-0mE-SOu3c/S3N4lp00hfI/AAAAAAAAASY/V2ZvykY8BYI/Cole%20Train.jpgCompared to professional football player for the 49ers, Patrick Willis.http://a.espncdn.com/photo/2012/0122/nfl_g_sfts67_576.jpg There is a big difference between the two except one is limited to real life standards and the other has limitless size and definition a video game creator can create the character with. This image is constantly being misconstrued by its viewers for giving a strong and buff body as a normal body type. But in reality everyone cannot have bodies like this without years of hard work, determination, and a very healthy and well balanced diet that promotes muscle growth. Even so will be unattainable for most people to follow unless they are young, have an extraordinary passion, and are already fit.
